Nintendo Rom Hacks

Nintendo rom hacks/patches in IPS format (Use a patching utility such as Lunar IPS to patch your roms). These improvement patches are fully compatible with real hardware and unlock extra content/features that would normally only be accessible via cheat codes or devices such as the Action Replay, Game Genie, or GameShark.

Nintendo 64 (use Big Endian/.z64 roms)

• Bomberman Hero (USA): Hudson has a history of awarding players with additional content when their special controller for a console was connected: If a player used a Joycard 64 controller, a new option called "Bonus" would appear on the main menu. The Hudson controller is supposed to be used with the turbo function on the start button to access the levels. However, the controller is not required since the player can mash the button as fast as possible and unlock the content the same way. In a nutshell, if the player presses the Start button as fast as possible after turning on the game, it should be able to unlock the secret levels. Some players find this difficult while others can do it with ease. The option is lost when the game is reset and there are no other requirements to reach the secret levels. This hack permanently unlocks the Bonus levels without needing to use a turbo controller or mash the start button.

• ClayFighter 63⅓ (USA): Unlocks 3 secret characters: Sumo Santa, Dr. Kiln, and Boogerman. Also unlocks a Secret Options menu in Options.

• Clay Fighter: Sculptor's Cut (USA): Unlocks 4 secret characters that can be accessed by first highlighting one of the two ? boxes and hitting R or L to pick a secret character: Booger Man, Earthworm Jim, High Five, and Sumo Santa.

• CyberTiger (USA): Unlocks all the secret characters and alternate outfits.

• Dark Rift (USA): Unlocks the 2 bosses Sonork and Demitron as playable characters.

• Deadly Arts (USA) (aka G.A.S.P!! Fighters' NEXTream): Unlocks the 2 bosses Gouriki and Reiji as playable characters.

• Diddy Kong Racing (USA) (Rev A): Unlocks 2 secret characters: Drumstick and T.T. Also unlocks all the magic/cheat codes and turns on "Select same player" and "Two player adventure" by default.

• Duke Nukem 64 (USA): Increases the maximum number of players in Cooperative mode from 2 to 4. Coop games will start with 2 to 4 players, depending on the number of controllers plugged in when the game booted.

• Killer Instinct Gold (USA) (Rev B): Unlocks the boss Gargos as a playable character. Also unlocks all 5-tiers of Level Options in the Options menu, and the Gold, White and Shadow costume variants for all characters.

• Mace: The Dark Age (USA): Unlocks 5 secret characters: War Mech, Ichiro, Grendal, Pojo, and Ned (a secret skin for Xiao Long). Note that Grendal, Pojo, and Ned were never intended to be directly selectable and playing them required complex setup. To select Grendal, highlight War Mech and press Z (pressing Z again will switch back to War Mech). To select Pojo, highlight Ichiro and press Z (pressing Z again will switch back to Ichiro). Similarly, to select Ned, highlight Xiao Long and press Z (pressing Z again will switch back to Xiao Long).

• Mario Golf (USA): Mario Golf for the Nintendo 64 has the ability to link and exchange data with Game Boy Color version of the same game. With the use of the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak, the player can transfer the characters: Joe, Sherry, Azalea, and Kid from the GBC version to play through the Nintendo 64 version of Mario Golf. This hack unlocks those 4 exclusive characters without requiring transfers with the Game Boy Color game. I found most of the necessary memory addresses in a massive list of GameShark codes compiled by Fancy. Without it this hack would not have been possible.

• Mickey's Speedway USA (USA): To unlock the secret character Huey, the player would normally need to possess Mickey's Speedway USA on the Game Boy Color with data and use the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak to transfer information to the N64 version. This hack unlocks that exclusive character without requiring a Transfer Pak and Game Boy Color game.

• Mortal Kombat Trilogy (USA) (Rev B): Unlocks 2 secret characters: Human Smoke and Khameleon. Also unlocks extra menus in the Options.

• Mystical Ninja 2 Starring Goemon (Europe) (En,Fr,De): Mystical Ninja 2 Starring Goemon (aka Goemon’s Great Adventure outside of Europe) can be played by up to 4 players once the game has been beaten and all 44 entry passes have been collected. This hacks unlocks the 4-player coop mode from the very beginning of the adventure: Start a 2-player game with all 4 controllers connected. When in game, press Right-C and Start on controller 3 and/or 4 and an extra player will appear! This will work everywhere, except in stores and houses. Note that players 3 and 4 will have infinite health and money. Every time you enter a new area, they will disappear. Press Right-C and Start to make them appear again

• Quake 64 (USA): Unlocks a Debug menu in the Options, with the following features: Map selection, god mode (invincibility), all weapons, and target.

• Rakugakids (Japan/Europe): Unlocks the 2 boss characters: Inuzo/Mudgas (to select him, hold L while choosing Mamezo) and Darkness/George. Also unlocks an "Extra Option" sub-menu in the options menu.

• Rampage 2: Universal Tour (USA): Unlocks 6 secret characters: George, Lizzie, Ralph, Myukus, Noobus (black Myukus), Pucous (purple Myukus). The character selection screen has been heavily modified to display all 3 versions of Myukus at the same time. In multiplayer games, only one player can select one of the 3 variations since they are still considered to be the same character. Also unlocks a Cheat menu in the Options.

• Robotron 64 (USA): Unlocks level selection in the Setup menu.

• Star Fox 64 (USA) (Rev A): Grants all 15 medals in both Normal (and Expert modes), which unlocks the following features: Expert mode, play on foot or tank in multiplayer mode, sound test, and alternate title screen.

• Tetrisphere (USA): Tetrisphere's Lines mode can be enabled for single player and multiplayer by entering LINES as your name and must normally be reentered every game session. This hack permanently unlocks this secret mode as well as a level selection screen. In Lines mode, pieces cannot be dropped and the player has a permanent wild card piece in hand. Chains are started by releasing a held piece by or on top of two or more of the same type of piece. Going into Lines mode and then exiting to enter Practice mode allows you to practice with Lines mode rules.

• Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals:

• War Gods (USA): Unlocks a Cheat menu in the Options, with the following features: Player 1/2 skill level, Level selection, game timer, and easy fatality.

• WWF No Mercy (USA) (Rev A): The game was supposed to have Transfer Pak functionality to take your created wrestler in the Game Boy Color version and place him in the Nintendo 64 version. Once the GBC version was cancelled, the mode was dummied out, but it's still accessible via this hack. Go into the Smackdown Mall. Choose "Clone Superstar" and clone it to the "Data 512" slot, which is in the newly-opened "Superstars 6" group. Now the mode will be accessible in Championship Mode. Listed as "No Mercy Game Boy Color" in the Championship menu, it consists of eight matches. There are no branching paths, and your player character plays no role in the plot. Winning the Championship results in a message that your Game Boy Color character is now playable on your N64 No Mercy cart.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)

• Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Japan): Allows same character selection in 2-player mode.
