PlanetaryGeophysics is an open-source research project focused on analyzing and visualizing geophysical datasets from planetary bodies across the solar system. The project provides tools to explore topography, seismicity, and magnetic field dynamics—enabling planetary scientists and enthusiasts to gain insights into tectonics, interior structure, and surface processes beyond Earth.............


🌍 Interactive Mars Globe Visualization

One of the core features of this project is a 3D interactive globe of Mars, displaying topographic data and seismic events recorded by NASA's InSight mission.

📡 Data Sources

This project integrates multiple scientific datasets from NASA missions:

  • 🗺️ Mars Topography (MOLA): High-resolution elevation data derived from megt90n000eb.lbl and megt90n000eb.img, processed using GDAL.

  • 🌋 Seismic Events: NASA InSight SEIS Marsquake catalog (IRIS Data Portal) — events_extended_multiorigin_v14_2023-01-01.xml.

  • 🧲 Magnetic Field Data (MAVEN): Hundreds of CDF files from the MAVEN spacecraft are processed to visualize temporal changes in the Martian magnetic field.
