SofdecVideoTools

A toolkit of creation, extraction, and playing tools for the Sofdec (SFD) video format, designed for Windows.

These programs are made with the intent to make creating, extracting, and playing Sofdec (SFD) files as simple as possible, and also act as replacements for older SFD programs, such as SEGA Dreamcast Movie Creator.

Instructions and explanations for options in the programs can be found in the included documentation, or in the Downloads + Documentation section below.

Support for .usm files, and AIX audio (in SFDCreator) are not currently supported in these programs. SFDs from SEGA Saturn games are also unsupported at this time.

Programs Included

• SFDCreator - Automatically converts and muxes input audio/video into a brand new Sofdec file.
• SFDExtractor - Extracts the contents of SFD files, and converts them to modern formats by default.
• SFDPlayer - Plays SFD files (via re-encoding audio, since FFplay has issues with SFD audio playback).
• SFDVersionDetector - Detects the version/muxer used for SFD file(s).

For developers, feel free to use the code in this repo for your own projects, EXCEPT in this case of use for malicious purposes (ex. viruses, fake installers, spyware and/or adware, etc)

O&A

Q: How much space do the programs take up once extracted? A: They are about 50MB if you already have FFmpeg installed on your system. Otherwise, it's closer to 500MB with FFmpeg.

Q: A prompt comes up saying "Windows protected your PC". What is this, and what do I do to bypass it? A: This happens with programs not recognized by the Windows software database. To bypass it, click on "More info", then on "Run Anyway". The programs should boot after.
